Alexa Chung put a polished spin on leather outerwear at Burberry’s Claridge’s Christmas Tree lighting in London on Tuesday night.
Arriving for the unveiling, the model and presenter wore a cropped embossed leather trench from Burberry’s fall 2025 collection — a runway piece built from calf leather and finished with a baroque pattern drawn from the faded interiors of British stately homes.
The cropped trench comes with a double-breasted front, raglan sleeves and pocket lines that mirror the jacket’s baroque embossing. Beneath the collar, a stitched Burberry Check adds a quiet nod to the archive. Chung wore the piece over straight black trousers and black pointed-toe pumps, carrying Burberry’s Medium Highlands Bowling Bag in Fig, made from grainy buffalo leather with a cotton-canvas lining.
The 2010s “It” girl look coincides with a steady stream of leather-forward looks. Over the weekend, “Landman” star Ali Larter opted for a nearly all-leather look, wearing a black leather jacket, a leather miniskirt and buckled boots at the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Las Vegas. In Santa Monica a few days earlier, Rihanna went incognito mode in a black puffer jacket with spiky detailing and a hooded trim, styled with a matching maxiskirt for a monochrome look. And in New York, Suki Waterhouse styled a cropped leather jacket with chocolate brown slouchy boots.
The evening also introduced Daniel Lee’s 2025 Christmas Tree for Claridge’s. The 16-foot installation is covered in roughly 600 bows made from surplus Burberry fabric, along with hanging bells and chess-piece details drawn from the house’s Equestrian Knight. A gold crown sits at the top, while oversize, floor-standing chess pieces anchor the base.
Lee described the project as an opportunity to celebrate tradition and togetherness through “vibrant colors and rich textures.” This year marks the 15th edition of the hotel’s designer tree, and the second time a Burberry creative has taken it on.
