Louis Vuitton made a grand entrance into Barcelona with a uniquely eclectic Catalan cruise collection by Nicolas Ghèsquiere.
Accompanied by LVMH CEO Bernard Arnault, seated beside actress Léa Seydoux at the front row, the brand’s presence extended to the city’s main port, where Arnault docked his impressive 101-meter superyacht, ‘Symphony’.
Ghèsquiere’s collection artfully blended elements of modernism, Art Nouveau, Mediterranean gothic, and even Velásquez, creating a captivating show filled with dramatic flair.
The runway saw the first models donning bolero riding hats at a playful angle, paired with voluminous contoured coats, curvy dresses, or bomber jackets. The opening look featured a striking beige raffia cape dress with pockets, accented by a white shawl collar, complemented by patent leather ankle boots and sporty turquoise insect shades.
The backdrop of Parque Güell, a UNESCO World Heritage site designed by the legendary Antoni Gaudi, provided an ideal setting for the fusion of techy sports concepts and gothic aesthetics. This marked another iconic location for a Ghesquière collection, following previous shows at renowned architectural landmarks such as the Bob & Dolores Hope Estate, MAC by Oscar Niemeyer, Fondation Maeght by Josep Lluís Sert, and Eero Saarinen TWA Terminal.
“It is in this majestic location that Nicolas Ghesquière stages Louis Vuitton’s first show in Spain, reaffirming the maison’s strong and ongoing relationship this year with the city,” said Pietro Beccari, Chairman and CEO of Louis Vuitton.
